In the heat of the kitchen and the midst of academic examinations, a few encouraging words from industry leaders who have also walked the same path as the current students are always welcome as inspiration and motivation.

The ICA welcomed chef Pierre van Zyl (ICA Graduate 2006) who visited the campus during a short stay in Cape Town catering for a prestigious event. Pierre is the Executive Chef at Duba Plains, part of the highly exclusive Great Plains Conservation Group, in Botswana, where guests dine in the world-class restaurant or under African skies, all under Pierre’s exceptional leadership. During his visit, Pierre addressed the current ICA 1st-year students with a message of perseverance and passion: “Hard work is evidently part and parcel of the culinary industry, but the rewards are truly worthwhile! Never settle for anything but the best!”
