ICA celebrates with SARIE
The ICA has a long-standing relationship with SARIE, SA’s first glossy Afrikaans women’s magazine – from contributing to content to placement partner for students on the ICA 3-year course specialisation field Media Communication. For the past ten years ICA graduate, Herman Lensing, has served as SARIE’s food editor and later on also became the editor of SARIE KOS. Herman completed his own specialisation placement with SARIE in his third year of study and subsequently became the youngest food editor appointed at the magazine straight after his ICA graduation.
Celebrating its 70th birthday recently, SARIE once again collaborated with the ICA to put together an exceptionally stylish event. ICA students were fortunate to work closely with Herman and under his expert guidance cooked and served a delectable celebratory meal to over 300 guests at this memorable occasion!
The ICA values experiences such as these as incredibly important stepping-stones in the development of chef students’ tuition paths throughout their culinary studies. Being able to afford students a variety of culinary work-opportunities is what sets ICA students apart from their peers. Collaborating with select industry partners and including ICA students in all aspects of the culinary industry helps to shape and mould students into young culinary professionals that are sure to be fully equipped to step into the arena upon graduation.
We congratulate alumni Herman Lensing and SARIE on this momentous milestone. It has been a privilege for our students to be a part of the SARIE journey for so many years and we look forward to many more successful collaboration opportunities!
