Two ICA graduates make their mark in the Media

Students enrolled on the ICA 3-year programme specializing in Media Communication, enters an incredibly exciting and rewarding culinary field upon graduation.

ICA’s flagship 3-year Diploma programme equips students with comprehensive ICA credentials, encompassing full chefs qualifications and advanced cooking and pâtisserie accreditation.  The ICA is the only culinary institution offering exciting additional career options within the hospitality industry, of which Media Communication certainly is a popular choice.

Apart from established industry names such as Vickie de Beer and Herman Lensing, food media’s most recent additions to a magazine editorial team are Liezl Vermeulen (class of 2011) as Food Editor since 2015 and Chad January (class of 2012) as Deputy Food Editor of Pick n Pay’s free monthly food magazine, Fresh Living.  In this month’s edition, Liezl’s front page soup feature has certainly impressed Fresh Living Content Director and Group Editor, Justine Drake as she highlights:  “Food editor Liezl Vermeulen has outdone herself.  Stand aside butternut and minestrone – enter a global feast of deliciously different soups from around the world on page 42.” (Editor’s Letter, Fresh Living – August 2018, p. 3)

Once again, ICA graduates are influencing trends and setting benchmarks, not only on a distinctive professional level, but also for a broader following into countless kitchens across South Africa.

If the world of food-media, events management or product development appeals to your culinary senses, look no further than the ICA’s 3-year Diploma programme.
